Camille Thibert will be showcasing her newest works at Qube Gallery on May 7 for her solo show entitled “INstant”. Having studied in Ecoule Boulle and landscape architecture school in Paris, the French artist has since produced contemporary earth works.
INstant is a collection of portraits using a unique drilling technique on reclaimed wood. These portraits were made during Thibert’s stay here in the Philippines.
By making use of nature as medium and humans as her subject, Thibert evokes a discussion on impermanence and vulnerability. The drilling, while necessary to her art form, is also a meditation on human nature. Through these works, she hopes to reveal the inextricable link between humanity and nature, in the hopes of encouraging viewers to pursue a more respectful and conscious way of life.
